Tues, 5/15 (OL)- Study Plan for Fri Test

I know there is a lot of information for the test on Friday and that many of you are feeling overwhelmed due to our recent changes in class schedules.  Please make sure to keep checking the blog for helpful study materials.  I will put the majority of them on the "Pages" section.  Don't forget you can use your notes on the test, but only handwritten materials. 

I suggest you study Chp 34 and 35 (1,2) on Wed  and 36 on Thurs. 

I will provide you with a study guide to work with as well.

1.         Define ethnocentricity.  Do Americans have an ethnocentric view of the world?  How have different ethnocentric views caused misunderstandings or conflicts in history?  Use specific examples. 

 

2.        Describe three progressive women in recent history and the significant contributions that make them noteworthy.

 

3.        Many Middle Eastern countries are battling a constant fight against ethnic tensions, language barriers, religious differences, various cultural patterns and decades of war.   Using specific examples, explain the reasons behind this trend and how it affects the world on an international scale.

    Though many Americans today view oil as the root of conflict in the Middle East, its origins date back thousands of years.  Use your notes from class discussions, text book resources, class materials, and the article below to help you with the assignment.  Your goal is to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

    In a one to two page response, explain what role the Balfour Declaration played in Middle Eastern conflict.
