Then come join us in a relaxed setting as we explore your summer reading selections.  The topic, date and time for each session are listed below. There will be guests in various sessions, movie clips, activities, food and much more! Come join us as we Open some Pages to Open your Mind!

WHERE: Walton High School

WHAT TO BRING: A copy of your ENGLISH Summer Reading Book and a notebook with loose-leaf paper, and a pen/pencil.

WHEN:

Session I

Tues. June 9 - Rising 9th Graders - 10am - 11:30am - Of Mice and Men
Tues. June 9 - Rising 11th Graders - 1pm - 2:30pm -  Catcher in the Rye
Thurs
.  June 11 - Rising 10th Graders - 10am - 11:30am - Life of Pi
Thurs.  June 11 - Rising 12th Graders -  1pm - 2:30pm -  Brave New World

We will explore how to read, you will learn background information for your novel, in addition, we will practice some reading strategies.  To get the most our of this session, you might want to read the first half of your book.

Session II

Tues. July 21 - Rising 9th Graders - 10am - 11:30am - Of Mice and Men
Tues. July 21 - Rising 11th Graders - 1pm - 2:30pm -  Catcher in the Rye
Thur.  July 23 - Rising 10th Graders - 10am - 11:30am - Life of Pi
Thur.  July 23 - Rising 12th Graders -  1pm - 2:30pm -  Brave New World

We will discuss some key ideas in your novel and the application to real world events and ideas.  To get the most out of this session, you might want to have finished your book.
