Junior Civitan Scholarship

The Georgia District Civitan Foundation  invites all senior members of the Junior Civitan Club to apply for the 2009 Robert Wyand Junior Civitan Scholarship.  The application is available in the Future Shop and the postmark deadline is Friday, May 1, 2009.  Winners will be notified by June 1, 2009. 

UBOG Scholarship

United Boricuas of Georgia is offering a $1000 scholarship for college bound high school seniors of Hispanic heritage.  Criteria is as follows:

  • Be a US citizen
  • Currently reside in the state of Georgia
  • Be Hispanic ( Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American, Mexican)
  • Be a college bound high school senior to be enrolled in a 2-4 year degree program in an accredited college/university
  • Be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in and familiarity with Latino/Hispanic community or family activities.

Georgia Engineering Foundation

Engineering Scholarships of $1000 to $5000 are available from the Georgia Engineering Foundation.  Applicants must be:

  • A US Citizen
  • Resident of Georgia
  • College-bound in ABET accredited program leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or engineering technology

Atlanta Jamaican Association Scholarship

The AJA is sponsoring a scholarship for college bound students of Jamaican heritage (at least one parent must be Jamaican.)  You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, not hold a full scholarship to a college or university, and a 500 word essay is required on a topic provided by the AJA.  Applications are available in the Future Shop and the postmark deadline is May 15, 2009. 

The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Atlanta in collaboration with Junior Achievement of Georgia is seeking a student entrepreneur for a $5000 grant.  The deserving student who will win this grant has started, owns and operates a business that is currently profitable.  The Entrepreneur of the Year Award application is due April 10, 2009.  You can download the application at http://www.acg.org/atlanta or www.georgia.ja.org 

Cobb School Counselor Association

The CSCA is offering a renewable $500 scholarship for a deserving graduating senior.  The student must have served as a peer helper, peer tutor, peer mediator, or some other type of service work.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.  Applications are available in the Future Shop.  They must be postmarked by April 13, 2009. 



Will to Win Scholarship

Schering-Plough is sponsoring $5000 college scholarships for college-bound high school seniors with asthma.  The applicants must have also achieved a level of excellence in one of the following:  performing arts, community service, athletics, visual arts or science.  Additional criteria:  US citizenship, minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, and have received at least one award related to the entry category.  Documentations of college acceptance and enrollment will also be required.  For more information, please visit www.schering-ploughwilltowin.comThe deadline for all materials to be submitted is April 30, 2009.
