Merck Will to WIn

Merck Respiratory is sponsoring the Will to Win Scholarship Program for high school seniors (US citizen)  with asthma who are planning to attend college in fall 2011.  Two $5000 scholarships will be awarded to two deserving high school seniors accepted to college in each of these five categories:  Performing Arts (dance, music, theater), Visual Arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film), Community Service, Athletics, or Science.  The candidate must:

• demonstrate outstanding performance in one of the above categories
• document a track record of achievements relevant to the category
• hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
• have received at least one award related to the entry category

The application is available in the College Corner in guidance or on-line at www.willtowinscholarship.com.  The application must be received by April 30, 2011.  No late entries will be accepted. 

Morgan Thomas Scholarsip Fund

For: seniors who are residents of Cobb County; have a GPA within the 3.0-3.5 range; are committed to community service, and have been accepted to a US college for the Fall of 2011.  An essay and two letters of recommendation are required.  The deadline is April 15, 2011 (postmarked by).

Indian American Scholarship Fund

Seniors of Indian descent (at least one grandparent born in India) are eligible for the Indian American Scholarship. Last year the organization awarded scholarships totaling over $40,000! Applications deadline extended to are due APRIL 11th.  Log onto www.iasf.org for the application.

CSCA Counselor Son/Daughter Scholarship

A non-renewable $500 scholarship is being offered to a high school senior son or daughter of a Cobb County School Counselor.  An essay is required along with the application which ia avaialbe in the College Corner.  The deadline to be postamarked is no later than April 12, 2011. 

 

Georgia Mayflower Society Scholarship

An annual GSMD Scholarship to be given to a graduating high school senior, in the amount of $5000.  Application materials and information can be found on the GSMD website.

Pi Kappa Alpha scholarship at Ga Tech

    Every fall the Alpha Delta chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at Georgia Tech awards a $500 scholarship to a young man who exemplifies qualities that we instill in our own brothers. SLAG (Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen) is the acronym for the attributes we seek in our potential future members. We are interested in men who are and have always been devoted to exceeding expectations in the classroom. We are seeking young men who hold or have held leadership positions in extracurricular organizations. We are looking for men who are not only athletic, but also appreciate all forms of competition. Finally, we want gentlemen who are willing to pursue a lifestyle with high ideals and great moral standards.

WiseChoice "Find the Right College" Scholarship

For high schoolers graduating in 2011, a $2500 scholarship is being offered.  Please answer in 200 words max, this question:  "What do you think is important when it comes to finding a college that fits?"

"I was born in 1994" Scholarship

For US students born in 1994.  Respond to this essay question (250 words, max.)  "What is unique about students born in 1994? Explain."

Student View Scholarship Program

This program is for seniors heading to college.  One $4000 scholarship, two $1000 scholarships, and eight $500 scholarships are available.  Not minimum SAT/ACT scores or GPA required, no essay required.  Log onto www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area.  The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications.  If you have questions, contact (720) 903-0439 or contact@studentinsights.com.  Deadline is April 22, 2011.

UAW Scholarship

The Region 8 United Auto Workers is sponsoring an essay contest for seniors.  You must have been admitted to a college for the Fall of 2011.  First prize is a one-time scholarship of $1200, second prize is $800 and third prize is $500.  Please see Mrs. Lenenski in the College Corner for more information.  The deadline for submission is March 31, 2011.
