Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The HSF/Ga Opportunities Scholarship Program is offering first year awards of $2500 to college-bound Latino students.  You must enroll in college during the 2012-2013 academic year as a full time, degree-seeking student at a university or community college.  In addition, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be of Hispanic heritage
• Be a US citizen or permanent legal resident
• Be a high school senior graduating in the spring of 2012
• Apply for federal financial aid by completing the FAFSA
• Be eligible for a Pell grant
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Be first generation to attend college

First Year UGA Scholarships for Spanish Speakers

There are new scholarships for incoming freshmen at the University of Georgia.  These will support students with financial need and who are fluent in Spanish.  Preference will be given to students from Georgia.  (Financial need will be determined by the FAFSA.)  Students interested in applying are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon after January 1st as possible.  Complete the scholarship application on the UGA admissions website at www.admissions.uga.edu/article/spanish.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with our annual scholarship program for the 4^th year.

We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.

BK Scholars Program

For seniors, scholarships of $1000, $5000, $25,000 and $50,000 each are available.  Requirements are solid grades- 2.5 or higher, and plans to enroll full time in an accredited 2 or 4 year college for the 2012-2013 school year.  For more information visit www.haveityourwayfoundation.org/bksp_scholarship.html.   Deadline is Jan. 10, 2012.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program

Who’s Eligible?

Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they:

• Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American
• Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States
• Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED
• Will be enrolling for the first time at a U.S. accredited***college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the fall 2011
• Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
• Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligiility criteria
• Have completed and submitted all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information form, Nominator form, and Recommender form) by the deadline.

Woodrow Wilson Community Service Award

For high school juniors, Walton can nominate up to three students for this $200.00 prize.  This award honors juniors who through community involvement and personal initiative best exemplify the ideal of service and volunteerism espoused by Woodrow Wilson.

JFK Profiles in Courage Essay Contest

For high school students in grades 9-12:

Write an original and creative essay of 1000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in his book "Profiles in Courage."  (See website for further essay details.)  First prize is $5000 cash and also $5000 in a 529 College Savings Plan.

Young Entrepreneur Scholarship

Applications are now available for the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation for the 2012 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards.  Beginning October 1 through December 15, 2011, any high school senior graduating in 2012 may go to www.NFIB.com/YEA for a chance to win a scholarship valued from $1,000-$10,000.

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are open to any graduating high school senior entering their freshman year fall 2012 at an accredited (not for profit) two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute.  The NFIB Young Entrepreneur program was established to raise awareness among the nation's youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America. Since 2003, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation has awarded 1,954 scholarships to graduating high school seniors totaling $2,122,000.
