ATTN Juniors: GA HS Graduation Test will be given Sept 26th

The Georgia High School Graduation Writing Test will be given to all 11th graders as one requirement of graduation.

The test will be given on September 26th in the morning.

It is very important that your student be at school that day and do his/her very best.

Turn groceries into Cash for Walton!!!

Walton participates in both the Publix Partners Program and the Kroger’s Earning Plus Learning Program. Both are easy ways for parents, families, and friends to contribute to Walton with your regular grocery purchases.

Publix---Pick up a Walton High School Publix Partners card in the Walton Front Office. Then just have the cashier swipe the card each time you shop.

Kroger—Pick up the flyer about Kroger Earning Plus Learning in the Walton Front Office and follow the simple instructions to link your Kroger Plus card and use it each time you shop.

The monies are spent on items from Teacher WISH Lists from all departments at Walton.

PROBE College Fair Information

Please see the following notice from The Walton Guidance Department about the PROBE college fair next week:

PROBE College Fair Wednesday, Sept. 19th, 2007 North Point Mall (Alpharetta) 6-9 pm 170+ colleges and universities will be represented. Fantastic opportunity to speak with college representatives on topics such as: financial aid, housing, programs of study, admission requirements, scholarships, campus life, etc.

PSAT Information

Please see the following announcement from the Walton Guidance Dept:

The PSAT(Preliminary SAT) will be given at Walton during the school day on October 17th.

10th graders will take the test for FREE.

9th and 11th will pay $13.00(pay in the records room now until Oct 12th by check or cash).

The PSAT must be taken during the junior year in order to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. This is an excellent opportunity to practice this very important test.

All 11th graders not taking the PSAT will automatically be scheduled to take the ASVAB(Armed Service Vocational aptitude Battery).

Wed, 9/12 WEB/Club Fair -All Freshman Must Stay

Sat, 9/15 10 am --East Cobber Parade*

*Come cheer on Dr. Higgins and Mrs. Beverly Titlow our Teacher of the Year for Walton and Cobb County! Look for them in a Hummer as they make their way along the parade route tossing candy to the crowd.

Next Week--Be sure to plan to attend the Probe College Fair at North Point Mall on Wed 9/17 from 6-9 pm

National PTA Reflections Arts Contest

Reflections is back!

Reflections is a National PTA arts contest to give children the opportunity to create works of art for fun and competition. This year’s theme is “I can make a difference by…”Artists may submit entries in more than one of the six categories: Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Film/Video Production.

Last year Walton had more entries and more winners than ever. We need your help to top our record.

The deadline is early this year. Entries must be received in the office by Friday, October 5, 2007. Walton customized entry forms are available at the front office or on our new website at: www.waltonhigh.org .  From the home page click the PTSA link, PTSA forms, Reflections entry form.
