Princeton Review SAT Review Course -Project 2400

Attention Junior Parents: Your child may have an opportunity to take Princeton Review's SAT Prep Class for Free!

Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and Princeton Review have teamed up again to offer 'Project 2400'. Project 2400, created in 2006, is a strategic partnership between the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and the Cobb County and Marietta City school districts to help enhance our students' SAT scores. They have worked together with The Princeton Review to offer SAT prep classes for our students.

This year, Walton High School will have the opportunity to submit 24 students to take the SAT Prep class offered through The Princeton Review, AT NO COST. The cost of the class is typically $999.00. Students who are interested will fill out a commitment form (stating that they commit to attend all of the classes, which will be offered at Walton High School beginning in late January and ending in late April, and further committing to take the SAT in May).

The classes will be held one afternoon per week for two hours. This will last for approximately 15 weeks (3 of those classes will be actual practice tests). Once all commitment forms are turned in, 24 students will be randomly chosen.

A parent information meeting will be held Thursday, November 8th at 7:00pm in the media center at Walton High School. So Raider parents, if you have a Junior who could benefit from SAT Review, plan to attend the meeting for additional information/specifics.

Commitment forms will be given out in all Junior homerooms on November 7th, and they will also be available at the Parent Information Meeting.

School Calendar Options Presented For Public Review

Forwarded by the PTSA as excerpted from the 10/22/07 Cobb County School District E-mail Newsletter:

School Calendar Options Presented For Public Review

District administrators presented three school calendar scenarios to the Board of Education during the Oct. 18 meeting that are now available for public review. The calendars present options for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years.

In September, the Board voted to request that any calendar proposals submitted by the administration for consideration by the Board feature a first semester that concludes prior to the winter holiday break.

You can view these options from the home page of the Cobb County School District website at www.cobbk12.org . There is also a link to use if you would like to provide feedback to the Board. The Board will consider the options during the Nov. 14 meeting.

Information about WEB this Friday

Please see this important information about Friday's WEB from Dr. Higgins:

As you are probably aware, we have scheduled a WEB this Friday, October 26, 2007 so that we are able to conduct the homecoming parade during the school day. On the last report card, the school designated the required WEB's for freshmen who made any D's or F's. This WEB was not listed as one of the WEB's where attendance was mandatory. While the school is not requiring ninth graders with low grades to stay Friday, teachers will still be available until 2:30 for tutoring unless they have responsibilities for the parade. All students on the MUST STAY list as designated by parents are still required to stay and turn in accountability forms.

We wish to thank our Bellsouth.net customers for their patience as we worked with ATT and School World, our website host, to resolve the “missing e-blasts” situation –we think the problem is almost resolved and that most of you are now getting our e-blasts!

For all subscribers:  We have also fixed the problem of subscribers not being able to remove themselves from the text message portion of the subscription. Now when you go to change your options through the link at the bottom of e-blasts you receive from us, you can now access the text messaging information.  We will also try to include a summary at the beginning of each e-blast so that text messages will show immediately what they are about.
